| reason | Naotora sees herself as a heroic figure, a champion for maidens everywhere. She's very purehearted and straightforward and I can't see her choosing anything but what looks like the “good,” honorable choice to her.
| wings | These are perfect.

Naotora presents a striking image. She's tall and imposing, dressing in pristine white with her hair drawn back into a severe topknot. It's an excellent reflection of who she is as a person: straightforward, uncompromising, and pure of heart. Naotora barrels headfirst through life, knocking down any obstacles in her way without really thinking too hard about why they're there. Once she gets an idea in her head about how things are supposed to be or how a situation must have played out, that's simply how it is for her and it takes a lot for her to realize that maybe she needs to change her mind. And even if she does change her mind, she'll find some way to try to save face and pretend it's what she meant to do all along.
Simply put, Naotora isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. She's not really good at putting information together and coming to any sort of complex conclusion from it. She takes most things at face value and doesn't think any deeper than that. She's also a bit slow on the uptake, taking longer to process information if she bothers to process it at all instead of jumping to conclusions based on what little she's managed to understand. For example, the entire basis of her story in Sengoku Basara 4 is her decision that somehow Shingen Takeda must be at fault for her fiance abandoning her because he escaped into Shingen's territory. There's really no evidence supporting this and when people offer alternate explanations, Naotora is shocked that there may be other (more likely) scenarios that could have played out. Because of all this, she tends to fluster easily. If she's caught off guard or placed out of her element, she blushes and stammers and struggles to respond until her brain catches up with whatever it is she needs to be doing. Then she usually gets angry as a way to cover it all up.
Because of her issues with her fiance, Naotora thinks very little of men in general. She's very quick to list every failing she perceives they have and tends to see them as an enemy of women everywhere. When dealing with men, she tends to make the most uncharitable interpretations of everything they say, assign the worst motives to them, and tell them about it. Loudly. She also tends to assume that men are either in love with her, up to no good, or both. It's like the inside of her head is a nonstop romance novel where she's the main character and her severe, uncompromising persona is the only thing keeping all the nonsense from spilling out. Except it occasionally does, at which times she, again, becomes a blushing, stammering mess and frequently embarrasses herself to the point where she has to make a hasty exit to avoid the baffled reactions of whoever it was who had the misfortune of listening to her.
Naotora manages to keep a more even keel around woman. She's very protective of her soldiers and considers herself the guardian of their pure, maidenly hearts and they all admire her very much in turn. She makes friends easily with the other women in the game and seems much more comfortable in their presence. She can calm down, stop yelling all the time, and just relax and chat, which is something she doesn't seem to do often outside of the sphere she feels comfortable in. It seems the, despite her image as a formidable warrior, the more stereotypically feminine an environment is, the more comfortable she feels. Her castle and its grounds look like something out of a fairy tale, pristine and white, with perfect red carpets and flowers all around. At the end of her drama route, she declares that she's going to take over the Takeda Dojo, which can probably expect its dark, tiger-striped halls to get the same treatment as soon as she's able.
| background |
Naotora is the head of the Ii clan. She inherited the title after he father died with no eligible male heirs. Her cousin, Naochika, was meant to marry her but got cold feet and left her at the altar, so to speak. His escape into Shinano, a territory held by the Takeda clan, inspired a burning desire for retribution against both the Takeda and men as a whole in Naotora. She proclaimed her territory as a haven for women and formed the Nadeshiko Brigade, a highly-skilled warrior unit comprised of only women. She came to consider herself a crusader for women and a stalwart protector of maidens' hearts.

| timeline | After her drama route, (making the assumption that it occurs after her normal route)
| abilities | Naotora is a skilled swordswoman who fights with a large, two-handed sword. She's also proficient in hand-to-hand combat, occasionally setting her sword aside during battle to deliver a flurry of punches. Her entire moveset in-game relies on physical strength and physical attacks rather than any elemental skills, so it's safe to assume she's a purely physical fighter.
| inventory | Naotora will arrive with the clothes on her back, her armor, and her sword.

U-um...
[The image in the amber seems to be of the upper right portion of Naotora's forehead. After some fussing and confused muttering, she manages to center it so that she reflects properly. She's seen it function before, so she hopes the amber tinting is managing to hide the embarrassed flush on her face. She feels kind of silly, trying to communicate like this.]
Listen here, just because we've been trapped in this tree and given these wings, don't think you can use it as an excuse to bully women into following along with whatever plans you come up with! Any man in this tree who dares toy with a pure maiden's heart will have Naotora Ii to answer to! You –
[As she's found her voice and gotten rolling with her speech, she's started pointing accusingly at the amber and waving her arm dramatically for effect. Unfortunately, she just lost track of which hand she's holding the amber in and accidentally flung it across the room.]
| prose sample |
She's pretty certain she was standing in a side room of the Takeda Dojo a second ago. Yes, she's positive because she just walked out of the area. Well, stormed out of the arena. Well, made a hasty exit from the arena because she was so embarrassed she thought she was going to shrivel up and die right there on the spot.
She's pretty sure this room wasn't there before. It look kind of like the inside of a tree with a big pillar of light in the center and a few rocks here and there. It doesn't exactly look out of place, but it's definitely not the room she thought she was headed for. Naotora balls her hands into fists and grits her teeth. There's only one person who could be responsible for this.
“SHINGEN TAKEDAAA! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!! Reverse this at once! Whatever foul trickery that ninja of yours just used, you better fix it or I, Naotora, shall show no mercy!”
Silence is the only answer.
“Do you think this is funny? You coward, you were defeated fair and square! Only a man would stoop to such underhanded tactics! You should be ashamed and if you aren't, I'll beat the shame into you!”
Still silence. Naotora lets out a cry of frustration and stomps across the room with the intent of punching the wall. She stops when she finds herself in front of the huge yellow rock. (Gem? Stone? Rock.) What on earth has he installed such a garish thing for? There's something magnetic about it that draws her to it, it has almost a feeling of light and righteousness about it that makes it seem totally out of place in the collection of that villain Takeda. She reaches out to touch it out of curiosity and a tiny piece breaks off in her hand. She jerks back out of horror, almost dropping it.
